The Minister of Transport follows up on the departure of the first Hajj groups by land from Nuweiba seaport and stresses the provision of all facilities for pilgrims to the House of God
![]() Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir - Minister of Transport followed up on the travel procedures of the first group of pilgrims to the House of God on board the Ayla ferry, carrying 128 pilgrims and 3 buses. The Minister directed to provide all facilities for pilgrims to the House of God, and to raise the level of readiness in the departure and arrival halls (cleanliness, air conditioning, radio, screens, cameras), and to equip the halls with radio services, and special pictures of the Hajj rituals on screens, and to clean the port inside and outside, with the provision of special chairs for people with special needs, and to devote all the ports capabilities to the benefit of pilgrims and travelers, in addition to equipping a VIP hall to serve pilgrims in the event of congestion and the regular operation of the desalination plant to push the required water to the port. He stressed the need for tourism companies and shipping agencies to adhere to reservation times (travel/arrival), and to provide a medical team and (2) ambulances to transport emergency cases to the hospital and a fire truck in the pilgrims village in anticipation of any emergency. An operations room was opened at Nuweiba Seaport and linked to the Authoritys operations center, to monitor practical and operational procedures, and overcome all difficulties faced by pilgrims to the House of God, in coordination with the South Sinai Governorate, members of the port community, and the Arab Bridge Company, to provide all facilities and speed up the completion of procedures, prepare the pilgrims village, and facilitate the travel and arrival procedures of pilgrims. The Supreme Committee for Maritime Inspection, in coordination with the Port Authority and Quarantine, completed the inspection work on the ferries participating in the Hajj season, and followed up on the implementation of the terms and conditions for organizing the work of ferries and adhering to the instructions for securing passengers. It is worth noting that based on the instructions of the Lieutenant General Engineer Minister of Transport, Major General Engineer Mohamed Abdel Rahim, Chairman of the Red Sea Ports Authority, held a meeting with members of the port community at Nuweiba Seaport last week, to discuss the procedures for preparing for the land Hajj season, which will witness the departure of 6,000 pilgrims and 144 Hajj buses. All requests submitted by members of the port community were met, for an honorable appearance during the Hajj season, with emphasis on providing all required facilities, for the smooth running of the Work and take the appropriate decision, and follow up the pilgrims’ route from their arrival to Nuweiba until they board the ferry. The readiness of the departure and arrival halls was also inspected, and the port manager was stressed to coordinate between the port administration and the port police, to organize the entry of porters to the port as soon as the ferries enter the ports, with the presence of an appropriate number of porters in uniform in front of the entrances to the departure hall before the buses enter, and to prevent the porters from exploiting the passengers. |
